Communication Coordinated

Basin gives your school a direct channel to every parent through smart routing, read receipts, forms that come back, and a chat parents actually use.

Free for one semester. If it doesn't reduce your front desk's workload, we delete everything and you've lost nothing.

What Basin replaces

The phone calls at 7:50am — "my kid is running late"

The emails that go to spam

The GroupMe you can't control

The paper forms that don't come back

The "I didn't get that email"

See who got it

Send once. Know it landed.

Every broadcast tracks delivery, reads, and responses in real time so no guess-work on email open rates.

What's included

Smart-routed broadcasts

Send once. Basin routes it to the right families — by grade, classroom, or activity — and shows you who got it, who read it, and who responded.

Forms, tracked to done

Distribute permission slips and re-enrollment forms through the app parents already check. See completion in real time instead of chasing paper.

After-school, self-serve

Parents register, waitlist, and cancel themselves. Capacity limits and grade eligibility enforced automatically. No more spreadsheet.

Substitute coverage

A sub gets any allergy or medical notes on file the moment they accept that means nothing relayed by memory at 6am.

Conferences, self-booked

Parents pick an open slot against your defined availability. No sign-up sheet, no double-booking.

Progress notes, drafted for you

Basin drafts a plain-language note home from what you've already recorded, then you review and send, instead of writing it from scratch.

Parent-owned chat, included

Every family also gets Koalie, a private parent-to-parent chat for their classroom: organized sign-ups, no group text. The school can't read it, and doesn't have to manage it.

Supply lists, no spreadsheet

Publish what each classroom needs. Parents see it in the same app they already use for everything else.

Payments, built in

Parents pay after-school and program fees in the app, processed through Stripe. A live ledger shows every payment, and parents see a savings tip (bank transfer vs. card) before they check out.

Uniform & apparel ordering

A live size curve for jersey and uniform orders: how many of each size. Counts only, never a child-by-child list.

Reading screeners, scored in seconds

Share DIBELS scores with Basin's assistant and the composite is calculated, the hand math is double-checked, and each subtest is read against the official benchmarks. The paper worksheet and the calculator retire together.

ERB scores, decoded for staff

Share a CTP report's stanines and percentiles with Basin's assistant. It reads each subtest against the standard bands, flags anything that looks mistyped, and explains the national-vs-independent-school percentile gap, so staff aren't the ones decoding it for a worried parent.

The actual problem

You already have a system.
It's just five apps that don't talk to each other.

Right now
With Basin
Team & activity updates
A group chat per team, unmoderated
Smart-routed broadcasts, tracked to read
Program sign-ups
A different app or spreadsheet per program
Self-serve registration, capacity built in
Forms
Paper or PDF, chased by hand
Sent and tracked to done, in-app
Parent-to-parent chat
An uncontrolled group text
Parent-owned — the school doesn't manage it
Where parents check
A different app for every program
One app for everything

Basin sits alongside your SIS (FACTS, PowerSchool, ClassReach) — it's the layer that pulls everything else together, not a replacement for it.

Common questions

Before you ask

We already use email.

And how's your open rate? Basin has push notifications with read receipts so you'll know who actually saw it.

We already have tools for this.

You probably have three or four - one for team updates, one for sign-ups, one for forms — and none of them talk to each other. Basin doesn't replace what already works. It's the one place parents check instead of hunting across five apps.

Parents won't download another app.

You tell them to. When the school says "this is how we communicate now," they download it — just like they did for FACTS or SchoolPass.

Our teachers are too busy to learn something new.

Teachers get a notification when a parent reaches out. That's it. They don't manage a dashboard. The admin does.

What about data privacy?

Basin isn't a gradebook or student information system, your SIS still owns the academic record. A teacher can log a quick assessment score to feed a progress note, that's the extent of it. No SSNs, no financial data. Parent-to-parent chat is private by design; we're FERPA-aware and do not sell data.

Pricing

Not a purchase. A pilot.

Free for one semester, one grade. If your front desk fields fewer calls and parents are happier, we talk pricing. If not, we delete everything.

One price, scales with size

$500–2,500/year

up to 1,500 students, plus $1.50/student/year above that

Includes everything above: broadcasts, forms, after-school, payments, substitute coverage, conferences, progress notes, parent chat, and supply lists. No add-on tiers. If you turn on Payments, Basin takes 1.5% only on volume above $10,000/year per school, capped at $1,000/transaction.

What we're asking for

A 15-minute conversation,
not a sales cycle.

This week

15-minute conversation — understand what's actually costing your front desk time.

Next week

A live demo, walked through your actual scenarios — not a generic slide deck.

Week 3

One grade goes live as a free pilot — 15-20 families, zero cost.

Month 1–2

The pilot runs. We measure calls avoided, form turnaround, and read rates together.

Month 3

You decide: school-wide rollout, or we delete everything and part as friends.

A communication layer, not another data silo.

Basin isn't a gradebook or system of record, a teacher can log a quick assessment score to feed a progress note, but full academic records stay in your SIS. No SSNs, no financial data, ever. We do not sell data or use it for advertising. Basin sits alongside the systems you already trust, it doesn't replace them.
